MY career

I worked for the NHS for over 38 years and retired my NHS contract in September 2022 but continued to work at Chelsea and Westminster NHSFT and elsewhere in private practice. I fully retired from private practice on 31st March 2023.

About Me

Robert Richardson FRCOG

I started with an interest in both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery in my training years. I was fortunate in working with a number of nationally and internationally known trainers and conducted research into laparoscopic Hysterectomy. In 2000 I was appointed at Chelsea and Westminster NHSFT as the lead in laparoscopic surgery and continued the Endometriosis service founded by my predecessor. Chelsea and Westminster was one of the first wave Endometriosis centres and remains a busy centre for the treatment of complex endometriosis. On the hysteroscopy side I set up the outpatient hysteroscopy service at Chelsea and Westminster and continue perform both diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy. Both services are still active and the hospital is continuing to invest in Women’s Services to keep Chelsea a leader in the area of care.
